Description

To reduce the quantity of microorganisms in barrels, many processes are currently used: steam, pressurized hot water, ozonated water, gaseous ozone, sulfur wicks, ultrasound, and chemical soaking without permanganate. It is in this context that we decided to work on a new disinfection technology: pulsed light. This method has the advantage of using no chemicals, sulfur, or mercury, unlike conventional UV methods. The technology is a physical process that requires only rinsing before treatment. The principle of pulsed light (PL) is based on highly intense light flashes that replicate the sun's spectrum 100,000 times. It is the photochemical and photothermal action that ensures the destruction of microorganisms (without selection).
