Amphoras and jars for maturing wines, beers and spirits

6 november at 16:00

V&T Amphores a pioneer in France for wines, beers and spirits ageing

What can be done at the maturing stage of wines, beers or spirits to benefit from micro-oxygenation in barrels, without having a woody mark or hygiene problems? V&T Amphores offers winemakers the opportunity to explore all the possibilities offered by terracotta and stoneware jars. It draws on the centuries-old experience of artisan potters who work with Tuscan PDO Terracotta clay, renowned worldwide for its finesse, and silicas from China's Sichuan Valley. The company's expertise extends to technical ceramics and granite, whose “ionizing” character lends a certain petulance to the wine.

Can you tell us about the main innovation you're presenting at this year's Vinitech-Sifel 2024, and how it fits in with your traditional expertise?

Our flagship innovation for Vinitech Sifel 2024 is the Tellurie black granite jar. The only one of its kind in the world, carved from a single block of black granite, it embodies our commitment to authenticity and our diversification in terms of containers.

We have emphasized pure, natural materials, such as terracotta and stoneware, and the age-old craftsmanship of ceramists, while incorporating modern adaptations and accessories. The “Tellurie” granite jar is a coherent complement and extension to the family of crystalline materials to which natural ceramics belong. Quartz, one of its main components, is in direct contact with liquids, and its molecular structures interact subtly with them. These crystalline materials bring an extraordinary freshness and finesse to beverages.

How does your product/solution meet the needs of today's winemakers?

Our aim is to meet the varied winemaking needs of winegrowers and enable them to find the container that best reveals their identity and personality. Granite opens up a whole new world of possibilities in terms of expressing terroir and winemaker know-how.

What's more, as a pure, natural material, it fits in perfectly with contemporary winemakers' quest to produce natural wines with minimal, if any, inputs.

Finally, granite is a durable and hard-wearing material, giving this new amphora a very long life, reducing the cost and effort involved in container maintenance and replacement. This solution is in line with growing expectations for environmentally friendly viticultural practices.

How does your product/innovation affect the end consumer experience?

Consumers are looking for healthy, authentic and unique products. Tellurie guarantees that the wine retains its purity and the original aromas of the fruit and terroir, offering a unique, qualitative and enriching tasting experience...It goes without saying that all our containers are food-safe.
