Description

Wine, which has a deep-rooted history among alcoholic beverages, belongs to Turkey's lands. Wine production began in the Eastern Anatolia Region, and the history of viticulture in this region dates back approximately 6,000 years. Turkey is in a very suitable position for producing quality wine thanks to its various climate and soil conditions. Today, Turkey is among the six largest grape producers in the world, producing approximately 4 million tons of grapes per year and using vineyards covering 500,000 hectares of land. Turkey's success in this field has a remarkable impact on both local and international markets. Turkey is known as one of the four countries that produce the highest quality wines worldwide and exports a significant amount of wine thanks to this high quality. Some of the local grape varieties that stand out in Turkey's viticulture tradition are Öküzgözü, Kalecik Karası, Narince, Emir, Boğazkere and Misket. These grape varieties, each with its unique taste and aroma, form a part of Turkey's rich viticulture culture and promote our country's wines in the international arena. As a result, Turkey's wine production is not only an economic activity but also a representative of a historical and cultural heritage. Our country's vineyards tell a story of both the past and the future and continue to find the place they deserve in the world market with their quality wines.
